QUALIFYING LIFE EVENTS | SPECIAL ENROLLMENT PERIODS
Certain life events may allow you to enroll in new coverage or modify current Marketplace health plans outside the annual Open Enrollment Period (November 1 — January 15):

The below life events allow for enrollment in a new Marketplace plan within 60 days of the life event date:

Involuntary Loss of Medicaid

Involuntary Loss of the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP), also referred to as Medicaid

Involuntary Loss of coverage due to moving out-of-state
-
Involuntary Loss of coverage due to aging off parents plan at 26 years of age
-
Involuntary Loss of coverage due to moving out of the plans service area

Having a Baby

The below life events allow for enrollment in a new Marketplace plan within 60 days of the life event date as long as one of the applicants has not had a break in coverage greater than 63 days:

​Getting Married - benefits take effect on the date your marriage certificate lists

Adoption - benefits take effect on the day adoption is finalized
